Importance of Sports in Student Life
Every time when it comes to sports, a common question is asked by the people that “what is the importance of sports in students life?”. We say studies are important but we can’t neglect the importance of sports in student’s life as it is important for our well being.
Many famous sportspersons who were scholars in studies but made their career in sports and are successful too like Rahul Dravid and Anil Kumble. Both these Indian Cricketers were pursuing Chartered Accountancy and Engineering respectively but dropped as they were not so good in studies, hence changed their stream and achieved a lot of success even beyond their initial expectations.
So, we can say that if you are not so good at studies or interested in some other activities then there are many other fields which are always open for you and one of them is sports. The success in sports requires regular practice, dedication, and hard work. But all these dreams can be fulfilled with simple steps and these steps must have started from school & college days.

1. For the peace of Mind
As we all know that there is no better activity than sports for refreshment. When we study for the whole day, it’s quite obvious that we need a refreshing break as a lot of things are going on in our mind. So, make a habit of playing for at least an hour for the peace of mind.
2. Sports is Directly Proportional to Health
Play for some time for a proper physical health. Sports helps you in maintaining a good physical health. Also, sports increases the self-esteem and mental alertness and this is the most effective when we involve in some sports activities at school as in early age we have a good grasping power. Games like Cricket, Tennis, table tennis, badminton, basketball, athletics, and gymnastics are the must play games at the school level.
3. Sports Eliminates Stress
Whenever the exam arrives, students deal with a lot of stress as they have to face a lot of pressure from both Parents and Teachers. So, we can say sports is the medicine to deal with that without affecting the mental and physical health. Few rounds of Tennis, table tennis, badminton, gymnastics can help the student in dealing with the stress.

Many times we have seen the students who are best at sports and not so good in studies. So, for such students who don’t have that much interest in studies can make their career in sports.
Rahul Dravid one of the famous batsmen dreamed to become a Chartered Accountant but after opening the first book, he decided to increase his efforts in sports. Think, if he didn’t change his decision to become a sportsman whether he could achieve such a success? Skills like teamwork, leadership, patience, discipline, perseverance, learning from failure, Sportsmanship, etc are developed when we play sports regularly and these skills are equally important when it comes to studies and management. So, we can call sports a crucial thing when it comes to skill building.

Sports teaches a person to deal with all kind of emotional issues and definitely, we all have to deal with some emotional issues in our life either at home or in the workplace. The skill we develop through sports helps us to accept all defeats as well as wins. Hence, a sportsperson is in a much better position to deal with tough situations.
8. Sports Enhances Social Relationships
The students who are very much engaged in sports activities have a bonding capability. In sports, they have to work as a team, which teaches them how to enhance a social relationship. This is also an important parameter of life.
At last, we have to come to a conclusion and that is studies are important for a better future but you can achieve the same goal with your sporting capacity also. Only one of the two will not lead you to your goal. So, you should get the habit of playing from the early school days and carry on this as much as you can. Choose a school where sports and other curricular activities are given similar importance as studies.
Various competitions like Athletics, Badminton, Hollyball, Cricket, Kabaddi, Carrom, Chess Weightlifting, Taekwondo are held every year in the college. Students are given opportunities and encouraged by the college to participate in various inter-college sports competitions held at Mumbai University level. Prizes like trophies and certificates are given to the students who get first and second position in sports competitions by organizing an annual prize distribution ceremony program by the dignitaries.
